A day at the Science Center

Wednesday is the day the girls get out of school early, at 1:00pm. Russell had a really rough day yesterday, but today seemed much better so I thought we would try and do something fun. My plan was to kind of let Rusty call the shots.
I thought we would go to the Children's Mueseum downtown and let him spend as much time as he wanted where he wanted. I pick the girls up and tell them our plan and they are very excited! We drive all the way downtown and....it's CLOSED on Wednesdays! ARGH! So I'm thinking of going to the zoo, but it's SO hot, I mean, really hot and I know being outside will not be fun. I decide to hit Balboa Park and maybe play in the fountain, just see what we can find. The drive there was really fun because we took Harbor Drive and passed by the Midway (carrier) and the Maritime Mueseum, which looks like a pirate ship, along with many other smaller ships. The kids all thought that was really cool, especially Russell, he kept saying, "boat!!!!" :) As I'm driving towards the fountain I see that the Fleet Science Center has some sort of "Kids Zone" banner on the building and I decide we will check it out. It was so fun! All the kids had a great time, the "zone" is for kids 5 and under (but I'll sure the girls will be okay for awhile). Russell did have a meltdown when an older (special needs) boy had brought toy cars and left them on the ground, Rusty picked it up and I could tell the boy and Dad were not okay sharing so I told Russell we had to give it back, he got mad and then bonked his head on a bench and got madder...I just kind of let it run it's course and then gave him a drink and put him back in the stroller and he was fine! I guess it's an understandable frustration, I just wish he wouldn't go from 0 to 60 SO fast.
I guess I had high hopes so we decided to become members of the Science Center (we also got 8 free IMAX passes!) so I'll be bringing the kids again. By the time we left it was very late so I decided to go to Chevy's restaurant for some Mexican eats. The kids did great! Everyone ate a ton and had fun. They did so good we actually went to Borders and Old Navy after dinner! Can you believe it? Such good kids!

More of our fun day!

Twice the Cuteness...

I have this one outfit that Russell used to wear that Barrett now fits in I can't believe how fast they grow...

This weekend in photos...

I have 4 sick kids right now so life is a wierd combo of dull, hectic, boring and cozy. We're stuck at home pretty much and I don't think the girls will be going to school Monday, Madeline had a fever this afternoon so I think I'm supposed to wait 24 hours after a fever, plus I don't want to risk them bringing home a nastier bug when their immune system is already stressed. Barrett doesn't seem to have a fever but he is pretty stuffed up, he has had a hard time settling tonight so I'm already in bed, anticipating lots of wake ups tonight. Hopefully I'm wrong! Here are some photos from this weekend....

Birthday Boy!!

Here's some of the highlights from Rusty's Birthday. Unfortunately all the kids are sick so it was a pretty mellow celebration but we did the best we could! If you listen closely in the cupcake video you can hear him count to six!

Talkie Bear

Often we all end up upstairs, the girls floating between their room and the playroom, Russell bouncing between the playroom and our room. I'm often in our room, folding clothes, or like right now, working on the computer. Barrett is always nearby narrating a story.

Rain and Bouncers

The first part of the video with Russell in the bath is actually a lot longer, he goes on to stick his foot up into the water and exclaiming 'RAIN' more and more, but it shows his little boy parts so I didn't want to put it on the internet! The second bit is Barrett in his new bouncy exersaucer toy!

Lazy Sunday

We're enjoying a lazy Sunday, still in pj's, cleaning, playing and relaxing. And just as I was sitting here working on loading videos Sean popped up on my Skype! The call kept getting dropped and the video quality wasn't the best but all the kids were super happy to see him and talk to him. I was very happy too! :)

Things have been very busy, of course! The girls are doing great and loving school, they are totally fine being separated and they qualify for free hot lunches which they really like. Each day they get a choice of 4 entrees plus salad bar - fancy schmancy! It sounds strange but I had no idea having kids in school was so much work - homework, reading, paperwork, volunteering...taking them to school and picking them up each day. My days are certainly more quiet but when I pick up the girls at 3:35 it's a whirlwind to get everything done before bedtime!

This is another compilation video, and yes, in the second segment Russell is sticking his finger up Barretts nose!

The week in review...

Here some photos from the week, including:

The girls on a trampoline (at our block party)

Russell inside a little bouncy house (still at the block party)

The girls and a bunch of other kids on the same trampoline

Russell and a wide-view of the party

The girls in the morning on their first day of school

Whew! I've been SO busy! I don't know where the time is going but everyday I have about 10 things left on my to-do list :) Oh well, the kids are clean, fed and happy - I guess the rest will work itself out.

Rollin rollin rollin..get them Barretts rollin...

Good grief, he's only 3 months old!!

Beach Day...Daddy and the Girls

Last weekend Sean took the girls out to the beach!

I can tell that we are gonna be friends....

This might be the cutest video ever!

Childrens Museum

Here's a video of a few things the kids did at the Childrens Museum. We are now members so we will have more video as time goes on I'm sure!
