Why 4 kids is really fun…

We have a really cool dynamic going on in the house right now.  The older girls love taking care of their younger brothers, the boys love the attention, and the girls can take a breather from each other.  The girls enjoy playing together 95% of the time, but every once in awhile they have had enough.  Last weekend, of their own volition, each girl attached to a boy and spent a big chunk of their day playing with him/helping him out.  They all needed baths and Madeline was thrilled to take a bath with Russell, and Anna was excited to be with Barrett.  I love to see them all getting along so well and helping each other out.  I’m also glad to see the girls finding ways to deal with whole twin/always together thing.  It’s always going to be a part of their lives and I’m very impressed that they usually seem to find a way to “take a break” before things start turning ugly between them.  I know as they get older they will have different interests, friends, strengths and weaknesses, and it will be easier for them to have some alone time.  For now though, they are too young to go off and do their own thing (out of the house that is) but they find a way to get what they need.
