Beach Day

Today we were lucky enough to go to the beach at Torrey Pines today with our friend Jo!  It was PERFECT weather.  Warm-ish and cloudy our whole visit.  They kids all did amazing.  Right off the bat, Madeline began running in and out of the waves, laughing and having a great time.  Anna and Russell went to work on sand castles and Bear watched from the stroller while he ate his sandwich.  Eventually Madeline started playing in the sand and Anna and Jo went hunting for seashells and sea glass.  The girls and I often went wading in the water, but Russell wanted nothing to do with it!  The waves made him wary, and rightly so, they were BIG!  Bear on the other hand just crawled right into the ocean, I waited until the last possible second and then lifted his arms so that only his legs got wet when the wave crashed in.  He started crying, and I picked him up.  He recovered very quickly, and I set him with the older kids playing in the sand.  He seemed to think better of crawling back out to the water and played with them for awhile.  He did really good at not putting sand in his mouth!

I went out and scooped some water up in a cup for Madeline’s sand castle and ended up with some sort of sea crab/bug.  It  dug into the sand so we made a little well in the sand and dumped him in.  You will see in some of the pictures below of Russell bent over the well, inspecting the mystery creature.  It was so much fun, I hope we get to go again before Fall.
